Fenton Flounder On Friday
Fenton 'D' made a disappointing start to 2012, losing by 2.5 - 1.5 to Cheddleton 'F' in Division 4 on Friday evening. A win for Derek Whitehurst on Board 2 and a draw on Board4 for John White were the Fenton scorers. However, the Board 4 match is now the subject of a claim as John's opponent's mobile phone went off during the match, meaning he should automatically have forfeited the game. This would have made the match drawn at 2-2. I have raised this with the League and I am claiming the game on our behalf. I will, of course, keep you all updated with the progress of the appeal. However, can I please impress upon everybody that you MUST claim the game if your opponent's mobile phone rings. This is a rule that must be adhered to - it is not a discretionary thing that you can invoke or not depending on how sporting you are feeling.
