No Hopers Go Down At Cheddleton 'G'

Fenton 'C' were narrowly beaten 2.5 - 1.5 by 2nd placed Cheddleton 'G' in Division 4 last night. Late withdrawals from the original team meant that the Finance Director and Skippy had to step in on boards 3 and 4 as replacements. Skippy, as usual, didn't disappoint with a good win on Board 4. Let's hope that the Finance Director makes a better job of the club accounts than he did of his endgame last night !! Let's just say that his contribution on Board 3 to the final score didn't need 10 fingers to add up - in fact it didn't even need 1 finger. Jason on Board 2 has obviously been attending the Geoff Yates school of chess as he didn't bother castling and suffered the obvious consequences. I was a pawn up in my game on Board 1 but my opponent had more than adequate compensation in his position and I had to settle for a draw. Click here to see the full match score card.
