Club Championship Nearing It's Conclusion

The decisive games in the last round of the Club Championship were played last night. Brian and Rob both won their matches to move on to 4.5 points and we were left waiting on the result of the other game between Ray and Danny. This was played at Ray's house as he had damaged his back and wasn't able to travel. The result finally came through by text - a draw. This means that Brian and Rob will face a play-off next Monday. They will play 2 rapidplay games with 30 minutes each on the clock - once with the white pieces and once with the black pieces. If this fails to produce a result then an Armageddon game will be played. The players will toss for choice of colours. The player with the white pieces will have 10 minutes on his clock but must win the game. The player with the black pieces will have 8 minutes on his clock but will only need to draw.
