Fenton put up a great fight against Cheddleton in last night's Open Cup Semi-Final before going down by 4 - 2. We were missing Kasian and Max, and were outgraded by over 240 points, but still managed to produce 2 magnificent wins by Petru and Glyn on boards 1 and 3 respectively, against Rob Shaw and Jacob Boswell. Ray took an early bath in his game against Dave Buxton on board 2 but the other 3 games all went to the wire, with Derek losing on time against Jon Blackburn on board 6, Grenville finding Bill Armstrong too strong on board 5, and me blundering a piece in a totally drawn endgame against Simon Gilmore on board 4, with only a few minutes left on the clock.
