Fenton opened up an 11 - 6 series lead in the South Potteries Chess Challenge Cup with a 3.5 - 0.5 win against Meir last night. It should have been 4 - 0 if there had not been a misunderstanding between myself and Stuart. He was 2 pawns up with an easy win on board 3 and I told him NOT to offer a draw like he normally does. Unfortunately he thought I told him to offer the draw and his opponent snapped his hand off !! Sam Feibel, making his debut for the Club, was the first to finish with a good win on board 2. I made very hard work of my game on board 1, but came through in the end. Chris somehow managed to conjure up a win from a lost position on board 4. You can click here to view the match score card.
