Congratulations to the Fenton New Boys (those players who have joined the Club in the last month) on beating a team of Old Boys by 3.5 - 1.5 last night. Donald Angir had to drop out of the New Boys team late in the afternoon, as his wife had to go to work, and he was assigned to babysitting duties. Consequently, Mycle stepped into their team to make up the numbers. The New Boys were the designated Away Team and so had White on the odd numbered boards. Pete Tideswell, a VERY Old Boy, was first to finish with a win on board 5 against Alan Strong, followed by a draw between Genaddy and Ian Mullin on board 4, to put the Old Boys into an early lead. However, that was as good as it got for them as Stuart was beaten by Joshua Mullane on board 3 in a very tight game, Ernie blundered a winning position on board 2 against Mycle and Kas was the last to finish, losing against Evan Clark on board 1. The match was played under normal NSDCA rules and the results sent for rating. We will be organising a second match in a few weeks time, with the Old Boys designated as the Away team.
